Is this going to mean even less human communication between individuals?

Its bad enough now when you look around and see everybody's eyes glued to an Iphone, even family's in restaurants don't seem to talk anymore, or people walking along with ear phones, unaware whats going on around them.

And how the hell are you going to read an e-mail on a screen the size of a watch?

Rant over!

why rant? buy one, don't buy one....If you don't want your family using tech at the dinner table then put a stop to it....I love the fact that tech means that I can chat to my family all over the UK and the world as though they were sat with me. I wish it had been around when my Mum was alive, she really missed seeing her great grand kids who live abroad, she would have loved skype and facetime.

I'm not having a go at technology woof, I am on about people communicating.

I use FB and Skype to chat with 2 daughters & grandchildren in OZ, and my son in London.

Just moaning about people not talking like they used to.
When I go out for dinner with my kids or grandkids I just had to tell them off once . Yes they take away conversation .
and they don't travel like they used to, work like they used to......
I feel I can live without an Apple Watch. I Do Not have an iPhone which is needed in close proximity to the watch for it to function.

Consequently, I now ask, "What is the real purpose of the watch."

Just felt I had to say something. Hope I am Not being too talkative.☺☺☺

Simple answer: You're not.

The Apple watch is designed to keep phones in pockets more. At the moment people at the dinner table hear an email or text arrive and immediately read it. Once they are at that stage, then reply on the spot.
With the AppleWatch, which is an accessory to the iPhone, you get a vibration on your wrist when something arrives. You then glace at the watch and it will tell you who the message is from. You can then decide if a reply can wait to a more convenient time, or whether you need to deploy your iPhone to read and answer your message.
I am not yet sold on the usefulness of this. It does not appeal to me.

No different what people do now if the iphone goes off, and most people reply from what I have seen.
I betcha Dick Tracy rushes out to buy one.
You need to wait and see one of these devices in use before you dismiss it. I haven't seen one yet, but I am prepared to accept it has a use, just probably not a use that will be helpful to me.
Hold on a tick i think an email is arriving not its not im just winding you up . Im a bit strapped for cash can I buy one second hand ?
A virtual second hand!!!
do you talk into the watch? if so, the Hoffs been doing it for years

In fairness,if I go out for dinner with friends we put our mobiles in middle of table, first one attempts to answer a text or call will be handed the full bill
