Why Are So Many Of My Songs Not Playing In Google Music?

My phone is a Huawei Glory if that matters at all. I'm trying to understand why Google Music is refusing to play almost half the songs I've transferred onto my phone. Many songs are grayed out and I get a playback error when I try to play them. My songs are all stored on my SD card and when I select these songs using the file manager, they play just fine.

Also, my phone keeps trying to stream duplicates of songs already on my phone from my Google Music account. It's almost like my phone is rigged to eat up as much of my data as possible. I have to keep Google Music set to Downloaded Only just to keep it from screwing me out of data and wasting space by caching songs that are already on my phone.

I'm just about fed up with Google Music, but, unfortunately, I can't install an alternative music player on my phone thanks to the damn "insufficient storage space" glitch.
I should probably also add that the songs that are now grayed out did originally play when I first put them on my phone. It wasn't until recently that Google Music suddenly started refusing to play them. I should also mention that the songs that refuse to play are now only visible when Google Music isn't set to Downloaded Only despite the fact that the songs are on the SD card and shouldn't need to be downloaded.
