And I now know I'm living in a different world to everyone else.....

For many, many months my broadband and phone line have been a pain... I tried....friends tried....but we gave up trying to get BT to help when my hair turned grey.
Today has been awful....I couldn't use the phone for the crackling....then an Openreach van parked along the street....Ahah....I thought....

I couldn't find the engineer so I phoned BT on the crackly line......
I got the robotic woman and did all I had to do to report a fault.

The robot phoned back....all had been checked and there is no fault with them....must be my equipment....but I can pay for an engineer or press one to speak to an adviser....I pressed....

The robot said she could not speak to me as there is a fault on the line???

In frustration I said a bad word....and was suddenly connected to Kevin in India I think.....he couldn't deal with me as there is a fault on the line....☺he'd call my mobile when he'd done more checks....

He found a fault at the exchange....your phone crackles....he said....I know...said I.....you may find your broadband has been intermittent and slow....he said.....I bit my tongue....
We will have the fault repaired by December 1st....he said....

I got lost somewhere in all this.....too early for a drink?

No, here you are, cheers
The word "Kafkaesque" springs to mind ... as does the word "wine" ...
Good old Kevin!

Thank you....wine poured and I think I'll knit a sock....

I can watch Missing or I can cope with BT....but I can't do both in the same week.....x

Not sure about the hair, Psyb....but I may have to get to know Gavin...x
"is it too early for a drink?"

A rhetorical question if ever I saw one
Claim Alzheimers, gness, and it will be done in 24 hours.....as proven recently after water in the 3 miles of line here. I need it though, the mater wandered again today, walked out of here with her lunch plate, up the drive and onto the lane. Got her back in and then she escaped out of the back door. Took me forty minutes search and I was actually on the (working) phone line to the police when she wandered in, not knowing where she had been, but with one of the hound's old balls in her hands.
Oops, mrs_overall is on our case, hides glass quickly
gness, how about a swig of Tullamore Dew. It may bring you down to earth.

Oooo...I'll go with that, Granny!!! But I'm not sure I want to come down to earth really....I'm happy floating about up here...earth is puzzling.....♣
I had a crackly line and reported it online (because I had a crackly line). BT sent me an appointment date to my mobile for a week later. They called a couple of days later and said there was a fault and the engineer would be out on the appointment date. He showed up on time, faffed around with tools for about an hour. His mate then showed up to assist with faffing. Ten minutes later he called me on my completely crackle free line - sorted. Even I was impressed. And wasnt charged a penny.

Hi, Lard...this has been going on all year, I even bought new phones and a new hub....
They've always denied there is a fault....as they did today...until I shook the phone...said a bad word and suddenly Kevin appeared like a genie from a bottle...and found a fault.

I had a text this evening saying the fault has been repaired and.....

....the phone is crystal clear now for the first time....but I won't hold my breath on the broadband......☺
Great, Gavin must have been worried. Now should you ask for a refund?
As you say gness - no breath holding. Your broadband could be a whole new ball game! Good luck.
Question Author
Gavin is not off the hook yet, Psyb.....

They gave me a refund when the email went bits up and they said it was my fault......til the fiasco broke....so I might have a word with Gav......☺
You should ask for Paul in Bangalore, gness. He's very good !.
Handy hint for Gness.....socks are best knit in twos. :)
Ferlew, there's no fun in that x
Who is Gavin?
