Shellshock [i]was found inside a piece of software called Bash, which is used by Apple’s Mac operating system as well as Linux systems and internet servers relied upon by governments, banks and the military[i]

Apparently the whole world is now falling apart as a result but can us Windows users enjoy a touch of schadenfreude? Some Apple and Linux users have gloated for years that, unlike Windows, their OS's were safe and now it turns out that they have had an exploitable flaw for 20 years.

they've had a flaw for 20 years and nobody's exploited it? That does seem like good grounds for satisfaction, I would have thought.

Yes, I know that routers/servers are also involved (included in the snippet that I included) it's just that I have come across some users of those other systems who denigrate Windows for the very problem that they have had all along.

20 years and nobody's exploited it... perhaps we simply are unaware of those that have

20 years? Doesn't say much for the ability of the worlds hackers ;-)
Question Author
Doesn't say much for the competence of Apple or Linux system testers either.
