Samsung Tablet Dead

As above, my Samsung Galaxy Tab has died on me. It's less than a year old and was a free gift when my son upgraded his phone. There's no receipt etc - might it be covered by warranty? I'm not sure where to take it to have to assessed for repair either.

If you need reboot, press and hold down the “Power” button on your Samsung tablet for a few seconds. Release the button when the “Power Options” menu appears on your tablet. Yes I've recharged it - it's quite dead.

I've just realised I was using my Kindle recharger which is identical - would that be harmful?
Your Kindle recharger may not be powerful enough to recharge the Samsung. Try the correct charger

Wait for the device to shut off and hopefully it will power back on its own. Once your lock screen appears again, your tablet is successfully rebooted.

Thankyou Jomlett, the reboot worked. I just hadn't held the power button in for long enough. Oddly it often crashes when using Google Maps when out and about where there is no wifi signal.
