I am so very sorry to have to tell you that this morning I have received the following message from one of Chakka’s daughters.

“My Dad, had liver cancer and became very ill at the beginning of July. He died yesterday, at home with his family. He specifically asked that you be informed of his death. At his request, we are having a small family cremation, and a party later when we are all feeling a bit less shocked, perhaps on his birthday on September 21st. We can let you know the details of this if you are interested.”

Chakka, a writer and film maker, and a man of great intellect, will be well remembered by the ‘Old School’ of R&S as an extremely knowledgeable, no nonsense, debater; as a regular ‘One hundred percenter’ of the challenging Rainbow Charity Quiz, and as an aficionado of the perfect gin and tonic. Although he and I never met, we have corresponded for years, and since he told me last year when he was first diagnosed with liver cancer that he had absolutely forbidden anyone to be sad, it comes as no surprise that his last wish was for a party to be held to commemorate his life. Rest in peace, Chakka, old friend. Much love to you. x

That's so sad. I've had a few differences of opinions over the years with chakka, but always with respect. My deepest sympathy to his family.
RIP chakka - a site stalwart, who will be missed. My condolences to his family.
I did not 'know' Chakka35 but had seen his user name often in the latest posts.

It was thoughtful of him (and his daughter) to think of advising us (via Naomi) of his death.

I wish his family all the best and also to all his AB friends.

I remember the name but didn't get to know him beyond a couple of threads.

RIP Chakka
RIP Chakka. x
So sad to hear this news, his posts were always well reasoned and respectful of other's opinions. He always came across as thoroughly decent person.
A fitting obituary, Naomi.
I don't think we ever crossed swords in R&S but, like so many there, he would have been a formidable opponent.
RIP
// his posts were always well reasoned and respectful of other's opinions//
Perhaps we should all bear this in mind, and try to follow his example in the future, that would be a good tribute.
So very sorry to hear that sad news Naomi.

I was not aware of Chakka but sounds like a thoroughly decent and knowledgeable person....
I remember a number of his posts, Naomi. RIP, Chakka.
Sorry to hear that and May Allah bless him with his mercy.
