Big Internet Problem On Sons Laptop - Help Pls.

My sons turned his laptop on this morning and cannot access the internet at all via anything - Google Chrome, Internet Explorer....... a message comes up saying Google Chrome has crashed - relaunch. But it wont relaunch. Have done a virus scan and nothing detected. Am baffled!!

Shut down both laptop and modem/router. Wait about 30 seconds re-start Modem/router then restart laptop. Check connection on laptop from the taskbar icon, if wireless check with a direct cable connection instead.

If the browser isn't the problem, as appears to be the case if neither Chrome nor IE can access the internet, you should test the connection. Wireless? Check both the transmitter (turn it off and back on again) and the receiver.

Does it connect via wireless?
If so, try connecting with a lead. This may narrow down the cause.
