Inserting printer cartridges

I have a printer HP Deskjet 1050 and for the first time need to change the ink cartridges. I've seen a video and tried to follow it, but am nearly 'going round the bend'. The spent cartridges were easy enough to remove, but I just cannot get the replacements to click firmly into position. Should they be inserted at a particular angle or pressed firmly one way or the other? Any helpful tips appreciated.

I don't know about the 1050, but could it be they won't go into place until you snap some sort of bar behind them? That's how mine works. (Apart from that, no special angles needed.)
Make sure you're replacing 'like with like'. The cartridges should seat after reasonable downward pressure.
Looking at the manual they look to be the same as mine in which case you need to hold them pointing up at an angle (not much) and then push them in and rotate them forward, basically the front face needs to be tilted back slightly and you push it in and push the top forward until the front is vertical when it should click.
