Slow, slow, slow!

Why is it, I wonder, that the AB is the slowest to open, or to go back to the previous page, of any website that I have so far come across?

I'd like to know this as well. It's so bad on IE9 I had to give up and switch to google chrome (what a difference). That still doesn't explain why though, AB used to bu$$er up all my other tabs too.

it could just be the number of posters currently on the site that makes it seem sluggish.

I think, based on only my own feelings and no real knowledge, that it's because of all the links to adverts that have come on here recently.

This website has severe problems with the use of Adobe Flash Player for concurrent adverts. If you change to a browser where it is not installed, the problem goes away. Personally I disable this awful Adobe product unless it is really needed (like for BBC iPlayer).

Thanks for all your replies. I have not tried this topic much before, and am mostly on Puzzles/Crosswords.

I have Chrome and Firefox, but I mainly use Safari/Google. This problem seems fairly frequent as far as I'm concerned. I can't stand the ads, but I'm sure they're necessary to cover costs.
