Vista problems

Rescued out old PC from the kids and tried to do a clean install of Vista, but it went round in circles, asking for the same information again and again(language time product key)
Has anyone else solved this problem,I cannot understand what the problem is.
OH made a partition and format from the bios, cmos thing and still the same thing is happening. Also, the PC was running Vista just before(a clean install).
He has done this loads of times before and never come across this.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Aya
