deleting old email addresses

I have just got a new pc with Windows 7...had windows XP before. I see a lot of unwanted email addresses coming up that have been obsolete for years. Is there anyway to delete them.

Please don't get too technical on me...I'm a silver surfer. Thank you in advance.

If it was me I would go to my list of contacts and delete the ones that I no longer require.. Hope this helps.

That's rather vague - coming up where?
Do you use an e-mail client or web mail?
