That model definitely has Freeview built into it:
http:// However JVC's UK site seems to deny that they even make TV sets, so no manual is available from it. You probably need to look for a 'Source' button (or something similar) on the remote control, to ensure that the set is taking a signal from the Freeview tuner, rather than from an external source, such as a Sky box. If the set is already receiving terrestrial TV, but only on analogue, you'll need to seek an option allowing you to switch from analogue to digital reception. (With some sets that's as simple as pressing a button marked 'A/D' on the handset). |

Everton's link is to the US version of your TV set. It may well you to navigate around the menus but there are bound to be some differences.

Chris - just read your post about cancelling Sky and still getting free-to-air channels. Got all excited as thought it would save us money but looking down the list I can't find hubby's favourite channels listed - Discovery and History Channel. So it looks like we will have to pay the increase :(

Sipowicz:
Apologies for getting your name wrong. I put it down to a lack of alcohol! Potty64: If your TV is currently displaying a signal from your Sky box you're effectively using it as a monitor. i.e. the signal from the Sky box is being fed into a socket at the back of the TV, which is then fed straight to the screen and speakers, bypassing the tuner section of the TV by using the 'AV' option. You need to revert to the 'TV' option. Looking at the remote control for your set http:// shows that there's a button labeled 'TV', which should do exactly what you want. (If you've never tuned in the channels at all, you might need to do that now - press the 'Menu' button and look for the 'Auto Tuner Setup' option, assuming, of course, that you've got an aerial plugged into the TV!). To switch back to taking a signal from the Sky box press 'AV'. Chris |

There are free programmes on Freeview and Freescan which are not available on the Sky box therefore if that is what you want a F

cont: a Freescan box costs about £65 . You can of course use your present Dish.

Modeller, do you mean Freesat?

Potty: Before you do anything, why not get on to Sky and say that you are considering leaving. Because they don't like losing customers you may be surprised to find that they offer to reduce your tariff.
You've got nothing to lose so why not try this step first? It's something which I've already done successfully. |

Yes !

Sorry I should have said it was Yes ! to Everton. It is Freesat .
