Dyson - brush roll very stiff

Just changed the belt on my DC04, switched on and switched off. In a few seconds the pin from the motor had eaten through the belt.

The bush roll can't turn easily (fairly stiff) and I can't find anything online. Looking at the brush roll (it is now out of the machine) there are two small holes, one either end of the cylinder - these for oil or does anyone know how to take it apart and clean it please?
