I have the New Ipad.......

I also have an ANCIENT Sony Ericsson phone, which has buttons missing and everything lol.
Question I have is;
Firstly - can I send all my contacts to the new Ipad from my SIM on this prehistoric phone?
Then - how will the numbers appear on my Ipad if I do?
What format will they be displayed in?
Is it actually worth doing?
Will I lose my SIM numbers once they are transferred onto Ipad or will it just replicate them over to Ipad?

Not sure if storing numbers on Ipad is the done thing, I just thought it may be worthwhile doing seen as I am setting everything else up at the minute. Thanks for all replies and suggestions!

Do you facetime to people's iphones? You would need the phone numbers for that but apart from that or maybe having it as a backup, I am not sure why you would want to pit phone numbers on an ipad.
