Seriously Unwell Laptop

When I turn my laptop on, the screen with the password box appears but the cursor remains frozen and I can't do anything with it. Any suggestions please?

Maybe your mouse has been accidentally disabled?

Have you tried plugging in an external mouse to see if that works?

i have a button (which my cat is very fond of stealthily pressing) that disables the touchpad - it's next to f12
