Bush 21 inch TV/DVD......when I turn it on the red stand by light comes on

but I cannot get the remote control to put it onto a channel.or turn it on. There are new battereis in the remote so it isn that Sometimes it will come on but not very often. Would anyone know what may be wrong.? Many thanks

Maybe the infrared thingy on the tv that gets the signal from the remote is not working. Can you change channels on the tv manually. Is this a new tv or an old one

when I switch mine on at the wall the standby red light comes on. I then have to press power on remote before I can press numbers for channels. Don't know if yours be the same.

I bought two brand new Panasonic tvs for my motel. One worked for two weeks the other for three. They had a similar problem to yours . The standby would come on but nothing else. I had o send them back and they replaced a part on them . Now they are fine

faulty power supply board inside the TV possibly, it maybe cream crackered
are there any buttons on the tv to change channels, you could try turning off the set at the mains and leave it off for a while and then turn it on again and try.
if its an old crt tv its not worth getting fixed, people are giving them away.
you could get a used tv for the price of a repair or even free, if its the old type tv's

Thankyou for your replies. It is a flat screen so not a crt tv. It does have a row of control knobs on the top of it but they do not seem to help to turn it on either.

Do you have four buttons at the top of the remote for different devices PVR, TV, DVD, AUDIO? It should be PVR for recorder or Sky. and TV if not. I am always pressing AUDIO by mistake when pressing the on/off button
