Spreadsheet problem

Hi computer experts on spreadsheets

When I open a saved spreadsheet it opens at colulmn B. Cannot find Column A. What have I done?

Highlight the whole sheet and then Unhide all hidden columns
maybe you have hidden column A.

Open the Format drop-down menu, select Column | unhide and see idf that does anything.
Actually, although Unhiding works for all other columns I can't see how to make it work for culumn A
Ah yes, I normally use right click to get HIDE/UNHIDE, but it works here if you do as Howard/Kennitby suggests

Selecting the entire worksheet unhides Col A with me!
I assume this is Excel and I assume you have not chosen to hide column A.

When you save a spreadsheet it remembers where you were in a sheet so when you open it, you will see what you had on display when you saved it.

On the bottom line of the sheet you will see on the left a set of tabs (usually saying Sheet 1 ; Sheet 2 etc. (Unless you have renamed them). To the right of these, you should have a section of the line with a left arrow, a slider bar and a right arrow. Trying clicking the left facing arrow which should cause the spreadshet to shift to the right and expose your missing column A. Hope this works.

Thank you to all who have suggested action; but I am still stuck. When I open up the spreadsheet it starts at column B. I do not have an hide/unhide command. At least I cannot find one. Any more suggestions would be welcome

This will work on Apple's spreadsheet if you've (albeit inadvertently) set the column width to zero - you don't specify which spreadsheet you use so it may be irrelevant, but here goes :-

Try selecting any cell in column B, then pressing left arrow, then setting column width to any positive number.
Place the cursor on B, go to Insert (top menu) & insert column. You should then have A
Use Go To command and enter A1 - you should see a small indication to the left of cell B1. Do not try to click into the cell. Go to the format section and select column width - it should come up 0 - adjust to eg 8. Column A should reappear

It would help if you could tell us which spreadsheet package and version we are talking about.
Have you checked whether you have a hide/unhide when you right click on your mouse.
Or, if you are under the Home tab, select Format then Visibility and Hide/Unhide (if you have Excel)
did you have any data in column A - does this happen with every saved spreadsheet or only one particular one?
