Google search box

Why is it that when I press the black 'down arrow' by the side of the search window, on my Google Toolbar, I do not get a drop down list of my past searches?

At a guess, because you've told it not to.
Click on the spanner icon at the right-hand end of the toolbar.
Make sure that there is a check beside "Store search history on my computer".
