Predictive text

Just a trivial annoyance to me but can anyone explain why when I type 'and' in a text it always comes up 'amd' and I have to remember to correct it, even though it would be obvious to the recipient? There's no such word so why does it do that?

What device are you using...?

Mark, it's an old mobile Samsung E720.
Old fashioned now, I know, but I'm sure it didn't use to do it!
