I have never heard of an ISP configuration number.

In what context have you come across it? What are you trying to do.?

I`m trying to connect a router. Sorry, it says "locate ADSL configuration number from ISP. Have followed the instructions that came with the router but I can not connect to the router whatsoever. I`ve folled everything on the disc. It does say " Connect to the router by typing http://192.168.0.1" in the internet browser, but I can not as it`s not connecting as I was told to set "NEVER DIAL A CONNECTION". I`m baffled.

The url (http etc.) you are told type into your browser is the address of the router itself, and should bring up a page representing the router configuration program. This does not require you to be connected to the internet, only to the router (via ethernet ).

Going back to basics, are we to assume that you are on broadband using an ADSL modem and that the router is simply a router and not a modem/router.
