Facebook Trivialising Cancer

I just looked at a 'friend's' Facebook page and she posted a call for people to 'like' a post of they disagreed with the Big C killing people. What is the point of that?

I hate them. I hate the ones that say like if you have someone in heaven...etc etc.

When you've lost loved ones some us don't want reminding.

My Mum died of breast cancer and her younger sister is going the same way (terminal) My sister is going through the genetic testing process with a view to having a preventative double mastectomy. I wonder how many people who put silly 'likes' on Facebook would put their money where their mouth is and actually donate to Cancer Research? Precious few, I would imagine

Eddie - I do agree to an extent. I joined Facebook when my Mum died because someone told me that there was a history page for my old village and I found it quite comforting to look at old pictures of a way of life and people who had departed. There is an awful lot of rubbish on Facebook as well

Yes I often wonder what's the point but am told its to raise awareness! Really! I think almost everyone of us has been touched by Cancer in some way or another, we are aware.

I know people who use it just to keep in contact with relatives in Australia. It is good for that and free.

Facebook was devised as a way for (entitled) Fratboys to increase their chances of 'scoring'.
Not much has changed except that now FB is an equal-opportunities pimp/madam with a humungus amount of dross, nonsense,triviality and offensiveness thrown in for good measure.
