My Windows Live Mail which has been my email client for myself and my husband stopped working in September. Is there anything I can do to reactivate it as although we can access our emails live online we need an email client in order to be able to communicate through links etc.

I tried downloading EM client instead but cant get it to work.

I think I do a malware and virus scan before any thing else canasta. Has it stopped working because it has been inactive for a while? Also what system are you using w7, w8, w10 ?
Microsoft stopped its email program working with services including Hotmail, Live Mail, MSN Mail and Outlook.com.
If you want to continue using it you have to manually configure your server settings.

Have you upgraded to w10 canasta? Outlook was free and will handle you email address as long as you have activated it and logged in.
Alternatively, simply download and install an excellent email client:
