Sorry this is not the correct category, don't know where it should go.

My OH is seeing some of our eBay items for sale on his FaceBook page. This has happened before, it appears to be quite random. Both he and I would like to stop it happening. We've found a page on FaceBook about blocking, and selected 'block eBay Selling Feed' but it still keeps happening.

Can anyone advise how to stop it please (aside from deleting FaceBook, which he doesn't really want to do).

Thanks for any replies.

Go to My eBay, click on the Account tab, click on "Site Preferences", then click "Show" next to "Share your eBay items with friends". A link for Facebook appears in there. I haven't linked it, so I don't know quite what yours will look like, but I'm guessing you can unlink it there.

Question Author
Thanks HC, I've looked through all the Site Preferences links and can find nothing saying 'Share your eBay items with friends'.

There is a link called 'Share your photos - photos that I upload on eBay for my listings can be added to eBay product catalogues and other product sections' - but this is set to 'No'. I don't think that link is relevant to my problem anyway, but it's the only reference I can find to photos. :o(

I wonder if I should phone eBay and ask them why the link you have mentioned is not showing on my eBay page? I guess I've nothing to lose.
Are you sure it's not your husband's eBay account that needs checking?
Question Author
I've checked both our eBay accounts, and both not showing 'Share your eBay items with friends'.
I'm at a loss, then. When an item is listed the seller is asked if they want to share the item on FB and it's just a matter of ticking a box.
Question Author
HC, neither of us has ever seen that when listing anything. :o(

I've just booked a call-back from eBay, I'll let you know how I get on.
Please do, mysteries stop me sleeping :)
Question Author
I think eBay is playing up. It said I'd get a call-back in 0 minutes and it keeps going back to the sign-in page. Each time I put my password in, the box just clears, and it keeps doing this, even though I re-enter my password. :o(

I'm trying to list something, to look out for that box you've spoken about, just in case it's there but we've overlooked it. I do hope that's what has happened.
Even so you should be able to cancel the share feature, mrs.chappie

Question Author
Thanks HC, I've just been disconnected from eBay Live Chat - screen froze up (frankly it was like pulling teeth but I couldn't get a call-back).

They're saying they checked the settings and I/we haven't given permission for sharing photos and we need to get in touch with FaceBook and ask them to remove the photos. Something tells me it won't be as simple as that. :o(

I've relisted an item and I looked very carefully for the tick-box you mention - there wasn't one.

I might try phoning eBay and see if I can get any further by phone.

Question Author
HC, thanks for that link, I can find nothing in my eBay (or OH's) like that though, no settings at all in this respect, it's a real mystery.

Live Chat chap said it's under 'Third Party Authorisations' but said himself (he checked) that we haven't given permission to share. It's totally baffling.

Question Author
HC, just to keep you updated. :o)

The last bit of the Live Chat ended with 'The issue is with FaceBook only (not eBay), as you didn't give permission to share and you need to get in touch with FaceBook'.

I'd already been in touch with FaceBook, and they responded with, 'Thank you for reporting, it helps the feedback community'. Obviously an automated response. I don't expect they rush these things. :o(
