Do they have the same guarantee on products as normal shops?

My son bought an ipod late December and it won't turn on. It was fully charged, he hasn't damaged it, it just decided to not turn on.

Looked at my order history and it says item cannot be returned, but I'm assuming that the 28 day change of mind rule.

Do I contact Amazon or the seller?

Can we assume that you have tried turning it off completely & then switched on again to re-boot it?

Lol Ron...first thing I tried.

It's doing nothing. I tried holding the button down, put it on charge. It just won't turn on.
So it was bought from Amazon market place?

"Your Legal Warranty
If a product you’ve purchased on Amazon Marketplace turns out to be faulty after delivery or not as advertised (i.e., non-conformant), the Seller has to give you a free of charge (including return costs) repair, replacement or refund for a “reasonable time” following the sale. That time will vary depending on the product and its value. However, if you make such a claim more than 6 months from delivery, you may need to prove that the fault existed at the time of delivery of the product and wasn’t caused by, for example, an accident, misuse, liquid damage, etc."

You need to contact the seller.

Cheers hc...should be in time then. It was purchased on the 21st December.
Hi ummmm I don't know anything at all about ipods but I assume they have a battery? When I was having probs with my mobile a while ago, someone suggested I take the battery out, give it a bit of a wipe, then replace it. That solved my problem. Don't know if you can do this with an ipod but just thought I'd let you know this. x

It was sold from 'Uptown Digital'
"To initiate a return of an item purchased from a Seller, please visit the Returns Support Centre and select Return items. Select the item you want to return and a reason for the return. The Seller will review your request and once they respond, you'll be notified by e-mail."

Thank you so much. I've never returned anything before :-)
I bought a very expensive smart phone from Amazon a couple of years ago. 11 months later it wouldn't turn on. Amazon sent me a returns label and two days after returning it I got a full refund (they couldn't replace it as they had no more).

He's in love with his ipod. Apparently he can't do his paper round unless it's left foot, right foot, in time to music.

To give him credit, he saved up and payed for it himself. It should still be working.

Fingers crossed it's all sorted out quickly
I often do not find time to test something immediately; but one should always be aware of the "reasonable time" limit. On the odd rare occasion I've opted not to bother with the stress if I've left it a long time and the value is small.
OG, that doesn't apply to faulty goods, though. If the fault occurs within 6 months it is presumed to have an inherent fault and the seller must make amends.
Question Author
OG...it's only been 4 months. £170 for a 16 year old to pay out for is a lot of money.
Let us know how you get on, ummmm.

Question Author
It's really frustrating trying to get hold of them. I've sent an email. Fingers crossed..
I'm not saying don't claim, I'm saying it is unwise to not test things fairly quickly after receipt. And that I'm guilty of doing that on occasion.
Question Author
He's been using it from day one. But it should last more than 4 months!
Indeed it should unless he has dropped it on down the loo or on to a hard surface, which I assume he hasn't.
Question Author
He hasn't. He was listening to it last night, he turned off to go to sleep and it just wouldn't turn on this morning.

Very grumpy teenager!!
