Following on from an earlier post about ipods, I have bought a new 7th generation ipod today. Previous Nano's I have used with my Bose docking station.
I didn't appreciate that the new 7th generation nano has new 'lightening' connector so wont dock on the Bose...my fault for not reading spec fully,
Anyway, I can see there are an array of '30pin to lightening' adapters that I can buy but they vary from £4-£35! Are they all the same apart from some being known brands, some less know brands hence cheaper price, or are some adapters specifically for chargers only whilst others are docking?

Also, I understand that you can create playlists which I have many of. In this particular case I have created one for my daughters nursery rhymes. However do you know if there is a way when you play ipod it can play all tunes EXCEPT those that appear in a given playlist? For example, if I put my ipod on at a dinner party, happy to play all 3000 songs, except the 40 nursery rhymes that are present in little ones play list? if so how do I do it?
Thanks!

You have to be careful with the adapter as quite a few will not support audio. So will charge iPod but will not connect with Bose.

Ah I see, so I am assuming the cheaper ones are simply for the charges then. So basically I need to look for an audio one which I am guessing are the higher priced ones! Does it need to be Apple or Bose adapter to work as well?
In iTunes change the genre of the songs you don't want played to the type 'Audiobook' and they will be excluded.
I am sure someone will direct you in the right direction.
Actually I just checked and it's actually 'Media Type' that needs to be changed to Audiobook.

In iTunes on a PC you right click the track and select 'Get Info' then 'Options' will allow you to change it. Not sure how to do it just on the iPod though.

ll_billym, thanks, if I change the media type to Audiobook, would that mean they don't play at all as I still want them to play but only when I run my little ones playlist?
Yes they will still play when you select that playlist, they just won't ever get selected to play when you do a 'shuffle' on all songs on the iPod like you would do at a party.
