YouTube slide shows

I am wanting to make a slideshow on YouTube of a motorcycle that I have restored.
Not sure how to do it.

Do I have to create a Power point presentation first?

Some of these videos I watch are quite fancy, with special effects, text, fading in and out. Is there some software I need in order to do these kind of things.

You'll need to create the slideshow then upload it 'as a movie'. I suggest you use windows movie maker which is a free download (if not already installed on your machine) and very easy to use, or Photostroy - ditto, free and simple, but with nice copyright-free incidental music effects.
With either of these you add in your photos, add in any text you want, then finish the movie - then this finished item is what you would upload into Youtube.

Powerpoit will work but tends to make over-large files that run slowly on Youtube.

Window movie maker and Camtasia Studio are the best software to make video for the YouTube in very easy manner because it is very user friendly as well as also allows to add different effects in video slides.
