Free Search Tools

Can anyone recommend a free search tool (for use on a charity website). There seem to be a lot of them out there so don't know which to choose. Don't want to be bombarded by loads of adverts/spam etc. as a result of signing up for one either.

Do you mean Google Custom Search? I've looked at this and the free version seems to generate a lot of adverts (which I'm trying to avoid). Has anyone any experience of this?

In case of any confusion with terminology, I'm looking for a search function that I can add to my website to allow users to search that website (and that website alone) for particular keywords. Thanks.
