Halifax online

Hi, I logged on to Halifax banking and must have had some redirector malware on my PC... and ended up foolishly putting my log on details onto a bogus page... how do I get rid of the malware (I have tried spybot and malwarebytes)... How would this happen when I am running up to date security? Running Virgin Media security... never had a problem when we had MS Onecare !

If you really typed your logon details into a bogus page, then the first thing you need to do is contact the bank and inform them that your account has been compromised, otherwise you'll be too busy dealing with bankruptcy to worry about your PC.

As you haven't given us any clue as to what malware you think is on your PC, or what the symptoms are, it's pretty much impossible to advise on how to get rid of it. When you say that you've tried malwarebytes, what exactly do you mean? That you scanned and it found nothing, or that you scanned and it found something but said it was unable to remove it?
Did you click on a link in an email to go to your Halifax account?

If so it was almost certainly a scam and your account may already be empty.

NEVER click on links in emails and ALWAYS type the web address.

You ask how this can happen if running up to date security.

Well no security software can find EVERY virus or piece of dodgy software. Even the best security software in the world wont find everything.

And MS Onecare was not the greatest security software ever, which is why Microsoft stopped making it.

Have you checked who maked Virgin Media Security for them, as that may not be the best either.
contact the Halifax NOW xwordman, they will have a 24-hour fraud reporting phone line. don't delay - good luck.
I have to admit to accessing halifax online via google.

I shall type in future.
maybe one of your illegal number plate victims or a woman driver is teaching you a lesson lol
hi Mick, it's not me with probs it is xwordmad. XXX
"How would this happen when I am running up to date security?"

You purposely clicked on the link and so the software assumed it was somewhere you wanted to go. At this moment, the malware on yoru PC is the least of your worries. Contact your bank immediately.

Thanks everyone... the bank informed me! I was oblivious! I think what happened was, I stupidly clicked into Halifax from Google... does this mean I don't have Malware? I am so confused !! But still have the cash in the bank thanks to Halifax's fraud team !!
"does this mean I don't have Malware?"
Probably - especially if malwarebytes is saying you don't.
Always go to sites like banks, etc by typing in the URL.
