sky telephone extension

my dad has sky tv. he has an extension lead from his bt phone socket to his sky box which was supplied by sky. he caught it with the hoover and snapped it off at the bt box.
since it was an extension with moulded ends can he just replace it with an ordinary extension lead or does he need a lead at all since he does not use interactive services

Normal phone line/extention cable.
You do not need it connected .. especially after a year from initial contract with Sky.
The most this cable does is authorise PPV sessions, and snoop on viewing habits.
However connection is a requirement if you have Sky Multiroom.
he could go and buy a box and extension kit and get it put in
