unlocking 3 nokia E71

As usual I have (gratefully) received cast off phone from offspring. It is a 3 phone & I have an O2 sim. I see online ads to unlock the handset yourself for a fraction of what I was charged last time. Is this an OK option? Which site is best?

If the 'phone' is over a couple of years old, give' 3' a ring and ask for the NCK code and the SPCK code so you can unlock it. You will need the phones IMEI number to identify it to '3'. Vodaphone have just given me this info as I,ve had the phone 5yrs

further to my last post, once you get these numbers just put your o2 sim in and you should get a message 'sim invalid' and asking you to enter the numbers, once entered you should get a screen message 'unlocked'

Do not enter any wrong unlock codes on your Nokia E71 mobile phones. If you enter over a certain amount of wrong unlock codes on your Nokia E71 mobile phone, your phone may get hard locked and sometimes become unusable.

1 - Switch on your Nokia E71 without any sim card.
2 - Don't bother as to what is displayed on your Nokia E71.
3 - Compose #pw+CODE+1#.
4 - The Nokia E71 would then display the message "SIM Restriction Off" and will be unlocked!

Note :For Nokia E71 mobile phones locked to the network Fido or Rogers in Canada follow these instructions :
1 - Switch on your Nokia E71 without any sim card.
2 - Don't bother as to what is displayed on your Nokia E71.
3 - Compose #pw+CODE+7#.
