Sky remote operating other devices accidentally

Quite often, using my Sky remote to change TV volume causes my DVD recorder to switch itself on. This overrides the Sky signal and I have a few seconds of blank screen on the TV while the DVD hard drive gets going and then the picture changes to the terrestrial signal coming through the DVD recorder. I have to grab the TV remote and change the input back to HDMI to get the Sky back.

I have Sky+ HD. The TV is a Samsung, the DVD recorder is a Philips. I can supply model numbers if you need them.

Is there any easy way of avoiding this, other than using the TV remote as well as the Sky remote, or having the DVD recorder on all the time (it is useful having its clock display on, and this is only on when it is on standby)?
