Orange PAYG sim only

Hi,
Last time I was in the UK (we live in Spain in a remote village where they still point at planes) I bought an Orange PAYG sim only package to put in my old unlocked Nokia to use for the times we come to the UK.
I am a complete twonk when it comes to mobiles and I was under the impression that the pin number to unlock a phone and the phone number is given to you when you buy a phone. If I have just a sim where do I get those numbers from?
I bet this is a really stupid question, please feel free to have a good chuckle but For Funks Sake tell me the answers first!!

Why do you need the PIN number to unlock the handset when you say your Nokia is already unlocked? To find the SIM number, call or send a text to a friend and they'll see your number...
do you mean the pin that lets you use the keyboard? that doesn't change with a new sim. The phone number is on the info that you get with the sim. Your phone information book should tell you how to view that number or yes, call or text another phone and the receiver should get the number.
