I want to put a digital aerial in my loft / attic space . can any 1 give me a tip on the best aerial products that can be bought and errected . A family member paid £90 for 1 to be errected on the roof. i havent got that sort of money tho throw away. Can any 1 recomend a good aerial that can b shop bought to errect in the loft..

Unless you live close to the transmitter, to ensure a loft mounted aerial will receive an adequate digital signal – you will need something like this:-

This aerial includes a mains powered booster amp, so you will need a power connection in your loft.

A high gain aerial claimed to be suitable for digital signals and loft mounted might work – but it would depend on how strong your local signal is. Even with the addition of a booster amp, may not be enough if your local signal is weak.

There is no such thing as a digital aerial.

The same aerial can pick up analouge AND digital signals.

You will often hear an aerial called "high gain" and this is good for picking up freeview.

What VHG says is correct – to all you people out there concerned that you will have to shell out for a new aerial come the digital switch over in your area (or want to start receiving Freeview now), your current aerial may well be OK.

I purchased my mother a cheap Freeview box from Argos, plugged the roof aerial feed into it – and the TV to the box via both aerial and Scart leads.

The normal terrestrial channels are still fed through the Freeview box, and by selecting the TV Scart input, she can watch the Freeview channels that the box picks up.
