Samsung mobile - voice mail

The Voiceamail icon indicator on the mobile is showing. When I select Messaging>listen to Voicemail and press dial up, I am getting a message that there are no VoiceMail messages. Nonetheless, the VM sign remains on the screen. is there a way to remove this?

The answer - I found by trial and error - is to send myself a vm. Listen to it and then delete it. Bingo the icon disappears!
