Transfer VHS Video Tape to DVD

Is it possible to transfer contents of VHS video tapes to a DVD by playing the tape on a VHS recorder and linking up to a DVD recorder.

Yes, I have done it a lot.

However it may not work if the VHS is "protected" (a Disney film or other "official" film protected with a special process)
yes, as vhg says it does work I've done all my personal vhs tapes and "some" bought ones of films

Thank you both. No its not a "protected" video, just a videotape of a wedding. I will hook up and have a go. I presume I press both start buttons at the same time.
