transferring photos from mobile to computer

I am tryint to transfer photos from my Samsung mobile to my laptop. Have put the lead into the mobile and the other end into the USB POrt. It says on mobile that it is "connected". I cannot work out what to do next. Any ideas would be most welcome

open Windows Explorer. You should see you mobile as a storage device. Move images as required.

Transferring photos from old mobile hone to new phone or computer

Just bought a new mobile, Samsung J700, but found out my photos taken on my old phone, Samsung E300 can't be transferred to my new phone, as these are saved into the phone and not on the SIM card....

How on earth do I get my mobile on to my computer. I know thats not the right wording, but I am really stuck.
