Canon 50D or 550D ?

I want to upgrade to a better DSLR and these two seem to be the best choices for my budget. I have chosen to go down the Canon route because Canon is the choice of several professionals I've come to appreciate and respect (plus I have a 350D and am used to it).
I like the fact that the 50D has a penta prism (rather than a penta mirror) and a faster burst mode but was wondering if the 550D might have anything over it other than 3 more megapixels and larger screen area (I'm not that interested in its video recording capabilities).
I have watched a review on Youtube presented by Kai of Digital rev.com but was wondering if anyone here has any opinion either way.

If you go to a good INDEPENDANT camera shop and tell them what you want the camera for ( landscape, portrait, wildlife, sport etc) they will be able to advise you.
I'd recommend the Canon 550D. it's better.
NO.... the 50D is the better camera.

With Canon cameras the fewer digits they have the better the camera is ie

EOS 1D MkIV is the best Camera on the market and retails at around £5000
EOS 1100D is Canon's cheapest DSLR and retails around £250 to £300

The 50D has been replaced by the EOS 60D (I have two) body only retails at around £600-750, very strong Camera
