remote control

I have a remote control for a Toshiba TV 32bV500b, RC-3910 the problem with it is that it does not now operate, and I have replaced it with good batteries. There is no way I can take it apart to see if there is something obvious.
i have a replacement and that doesn't work. do I need a code.

Please don't think I'm testing your intelligence Vignon! I'm not, are the battery's the right way around? + On battery to +within the handset & - on battery to - within the handset. & are the batteries new & the eye on the remote clean & clear of debris.

TWR I can understand where your coming from, yes done and checked everything as you say plus new duracll batteries.

Just check the battery connectors in the plastic body. They often get messed up .. and if ok, hold the remote up to a webcam or vid camera .. and press any key. If working, you will see the light in the video from the emitter.

AlBags cannot see a light, cover is very dark??

You should still be able to see a glint from it , so long as you look at the webcam or video image. You will NEVER see it with direct eyesight.

AlBags As you say checked it with webcam, NO LIGHT guess it,s duff then cannot get inside it,if repairable

The best way is to look through your mobile phone camera at the glass end of your remote when you are pressing a button, if its working you will see it flashing, if nothing then it's the crystal ( glass bulb ) that's the main fault and that's the job of a tv repair man, if you want to get another you will need the exact same one for that tv, a 32BV500B remote is £11-49 delivered from avukltd.com.

The body of remote snaps together. It can be prised apart with a knife blade or similar.

Try Maplins or RS components.
It's more likely to be battery connections insid tho .. get it open first to look.

It would cost more to fix than buy a new one, the bulbs are £6-80 for a pack of 5 from CPC, (you need an account) and are soldered in, try your local tv repair shop for help.
