freeview hd after switchover

I have a sony hd tv and on switcover expected to get the same quality hd as I get on sky but the quality is nowhere as good, also I would have thought the channel list would invclude seperate hd channels as well as the normal channels (i.e. bbc1 and bbc1 hd) but there are no seperate hd channels listed
can someone assist..thanks

Has your TV actually got a freeview HD receiver in it (as opposed to just a freeview receiver)?

yes it does have a built in reciever

Most TV's only have freeview receivers built into them, not freeview HD so can only receive standard freeveiw channels, not the HD channels.

Freeview is not the same as freeview HD. It's as simple as that. That is why there is a difference in price between the two, or why the alternative is to get a sky or virgin HD set up.

hi chuck, yes it has a full hd freeview reciver built in.

In that case you should be able to receive the HD channels... what is the model of the TV and what transmitter are you on (or post the first part of your postcode... do NOT post all of your post code)

You should be able to get them, you are correct that you have a HD receiver and the sudbury transmitter should give you BBC1 HD and ITV HD at least and they would be listed as separate channels... ( my parents get the HD channels fine from Sudbury)

Silly question maybe.. but you have done a full rescan since yesterday when the switch over occurred?

I get my TV reception from the Sudbury transmitter(co4), and everything is fine. My TV is Sony and picture is good and clear.

hi chuck. I did not retune manually as this tv does it automatically, maybe I should also try a manual retune. thanks for your help and imformation...les.

When trying to fix freeview box problems I find there is a difference between updating, and resetting and starting from scratch. Sometimes only the latter solves problems. I do not know, but maybe the auto update feature is similar, in that occassionaly it is good to manually go back to the default with no 'already known' stations, and start again.

there's been a pop up for ages on freeview telling you to do a RESCAN after its gone digital don't leave it to auto update, go into settings and rescan channels as a new installation
