My daughter dropped hers in the sink full of water! We took it all apart and left it to dry out for a few days and it was as good as new! Just make sure you dont switch it back on until it is completely dried out!
Home contents insurance?
open it up as much as you can to get the insides as dry as possible and hope.
I dropped mine in the loo so it was down there for more than a few seconds. I dried it in the airing cupboard and it worked just as well. Same thing happened again a few months later to the same phone and again, all was well
I love Nokias =)
put it in a bowl of uncooked rice and make sure it's well covered -

Put phone with battery seperate in a box with rice and put in airing cupboard.
i droped mine in the pond but after a few days in the airing cupboard it was ok again
take the battery out and dry inside with some kitchen towel too

for a few days after my on/off button didnt work properly but now its 100% ok
Good luck!
Give it lots of time (days) drying before attempting to turn on again.
in this scenario, the vital thing is to disconnect the battery as soon as possible to prevent shorts and damage. then as has been said, leve it to dry and cross your fingers.

A pro would dismantle it and flush the guts with distilled water to remove any impurities deposited on the pcbs, but this is outside the scope of your average layperson.
