Two right mouse keys

I can't understand why, on my wife's laptop, the left mouse key does exactly what the right key does. I don't know what caused that or how to rectify it.

I had a look at the mouse option in 'Control Panel' but nothing changed.

I'd be really grateful for your answers.

What brand of laptop is it ? Have you plugged in a usb mouse to see if it works ok ? If it works ok then you may have to reinstall the driver for it from the manufacturers web site.
