Connecting Desktop to router wirelessly

I have a desktop computer to which I have attached a wireless dongle to connect with my router.

However everytime I log on, they connect, disconnect, connect, disconnect etc every couple of seconds so that I can't access the internet at all.

The only way I have found to connect is to go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services and stop the wireless configuration (currently set as automatic) and restart it, and then it usually connects.

Is there any way round this so that we don't have to do this every time we log on?
