I know this may sound a daft question, but would you expect a laptop to work in damp conditions? If, for example, it is kept in a damp room. Would you expect it to not work at all, or would it maybe take ages to start up, as though it has to dry out a bit first?! I am asking as I believe my friend's laptop doesn't work well due to it's immediate surroundings, but they say its the laptop and are going to replace it, which I don't think will make a difference. Thanks

Go on tell the truth...you are not using it when you have a has a bath are you..?
If it's used every day or so, I would think it is not going to be affected much.
Sounds like it needs a damn good clean out, and worse case reinstall Windows.
