Your best bet for that would probably be a NAS (network accessible storage) unit that supports raid

so - you are recomending a cheap one chuck? ;)

I was just going to add that more than 1 disc doesn't come cheap
1 disk needs an sata/pata interface
2 is a server ... and needs a processor

LOL, I wasn;t recommending the one I posted a link to, I have no experience of it at all. the only NAS box I have experience of is a 800quid netgear one that takes 4x15k 500Gb SCSI drives (best freebie I have ever got from work;-))

RAID isn't a backup solution.

If you're not running a server, or using server-class applications, you don't need RAID.
