Internet slow start up

My internet starts up really slowly. Once it runs, it runs really well but its just when IE7 intially appears on screen its takes so much time to actualy start running. I have noticed this for a long time and not sure what to do about it as its so annoying. Not sure but i feel that it may have something to do with the anti-virus and other anti-spyware I have installed on the pc. I thought it might be a virus that I have on the pc but i recently ran a full scan and found nothing. Could it be spy ware ? Any ideas, its really annoying me !!

ACtheTROLL - I have done this and its running little better than before. I was just thinking, could it also be one of my installed softwares such as the anti-virus thats interfering with the internet start up via the firewall settings ? how could i check and resolve this ?

it could be
the only way to prove is to disable and see .... not a good idea.

if you try ... point at the BBC or some such .... disconnect as soon as it connects ...

sounds more like something making space for itself though
empty the recycle bin
download ccleaner - install - use the default settings (leave out cookies if you have passwords etc)
http://www.ccleaner.com/download
check the disk for errors
defrag

you need about 20% free space on your disk to make room for everything

when all this waiting is going on ... is the HDD "thrashing" (constantly in use - a sure sign that the disk is too full)
