AC, I'll see him tomorrow and find out how he got on. He does read and follow instructions, but being a former programmer I only ever use them as a last resort :-)

I had a similar problem setting up my wireless connection
using the wireless code printed on the label to the rear of the hub.I entered the number a number of times with the same result (not recognised). I rang the BT help line and followed their instructions. problem solved. |

Hud
The worst of the worst ;-) I have one of these .... never a moment's problem ... use the IP phones, bbanywhere, vision and fon friends latch on without problems ... also Make sure he changes the SSID and allows new connections either via registration or ... not at all this + wep is good enough unless his name is bond .... james bond dens >>I rang the BT help line and followed their instructions. problem solved. << would have beena bit more helpful if you'd sort of repeated what they'd said! |

Ref ACtheTroll.query. After following the telephone instructions
I still could not connect ,so the helpline operator asked me to connect to the hub via the ethernet cable provided with the outfit. He was then able to take control of my laptop remotely and did all the setting from his end .Whilst this was going on we still had telephone communication and he was able to ask me questions regarding what was showing on screen and to issue instructions accordingly. The whole process took about 30 mins to complete and was a complete success. |

actually dens' experience is a prompt for summat wot I forgot to mention.
you can't set up a wireless router using wirelessness (actually you can ... but it's not worth all the extra pain) - your chum certainly needs to be "plugged in and switched on |
