easiest way to load XP on to a Compaq N600 PIII laptop having issues having formatted the whole 2.5" drive

there isn't an easiest way
..... only the right way

I'm guessing its quite a small HDD(?) - not much room for XP .... but not much for progs either.

ideally (in my world) you need 5-10 Gb of discspace.

so insert the CD and startup the 'puter ....
if the bios is set right the machine should boot from the CD .... and away you go.
(possibly a p3 may not have the option to boot in this way .... come back if it's not an option)

assuming it does ... just work through the options ....
not certain what you mean about the HDD - but unless you have important files .... delete and re-create the partition .... format with NTFS

take the defaults ... and if you are lucky ... you won't need a driver disc (check though)

a 600 is better suited to 98 or 2000 ... but it should run xp
(how much ram is there?)
