I have all the usual McAfee and Firewall malarky , but recently these annoying pop-ups asking me if I want to 'find an adult friend in my area' and a 'windows scanner' that opens, runs and then decides to download and i have to close my computer down before it completes. I've checked all my anti-virus stuff is enabled and have scanned and cleaned my computer several times and deleted and removed anything that i've previously installed or downloaded that could have been doing this but it still continues ... :(:(:( . Can anyone help me pleasee!!??

I had exactly the same problem and went onto this site:

www.tinyurl.com/2gwkwr for advice. I found that a virus had disabled my Windows Automatic security checks. This site told me how to reinstall it and I have not had problems since. You could also try using Firefox instead of IE as it has better built in security.
LOL @ noknowledge

Yeah I hate those as well.... but back to the question,

I would say download adaware and run a full scan as it sounds like you may have some spy/mal ware on your computer.

If you use Firefox there is a useful little tool called Adblock Plus, if you use Internet Explorer it's called Pop Up Blocker - both can be found under Tools..... have you got these turned on ?
BagPussAA, what has that "link" got to do with it?

However

"You could also try using Firefox instead of IE as it has better built in security."

is very true and good advice.
