Colour all washed out

I've just done a complete system recovery & now everything looks a bit washed out if you know what I mean . Bit confused as to how to fix it between Nvidia control panel , Adobe Gamma & Colour management . I didn't change any settings in my previous setup & it was fine before . Any suggestions pls ?

if you are running xp either right click the desktop and go to properties or got to control panel and select display settings

goto the settings tab and increase the colour display to full
try setting the display to 1024x768 depending on your monitor - you can try Nvidia settings put everything to default

either that or you monitor just needs auto adjusting
a little setting on the menu of the monitor
