How can I stop these pop ups appearing online ? I have windows XP and most of them come from my provider when I open up. Someone on a previous similar question, said to go into tools, services, messenger and disable, but mine is disabled already. Is it safe to install a pop up stopper?

try the Google or Yahoo blocker, intergrated into there search bar.

Both are available from their main search pages. I use the Yahoo blocker but have Google as my home page, so from one click on IE i can search two different engines

If you have windows xp, do you have service pack 2 installed? It includes a pop up blocker which is pretty good. Only a really small amount of popups get through.
Stop using internet explorer. Instead use firefox:

No idea if I have service pack 2 PatThe Rat, I'm not technical at all. I have downloaded the Google blocker and it seems to have stopped some of the pop ups when I open my server, although there is still a niggly one in the corner ...
Firefox is very good at this, but if you are using Internet Explorer theres a very good (and free) pop up stopper here

Firefox is definetely the way to go, after many reccomendations I was eventualy convinced to try it and have never looked back. Resolves so many security issues on I.E, just wish I'd listened earlier.
